Assistant Director, Alumni Communications

Reporting to the Associate Director of Alumni Communications, the Assistant Director will plan and execute a wide range of communications strategies that will contribute to the alumni strategic communication plans including content, social media, digital initiatives, and interactive media integration.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute a social media plan to define the voice and build followers for the UL Lafayette Alumni Association brand across all social media platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and X.
  • Support Alumni Association Club, Chapters and Networks in generating plans and content for planned initiatives.
  • Conduct interviews and generate content for digital newsletter, Alumni Accents.
  • Serve as a partner to the University’s Office of Communications and Marketing, Office of Development Communications, and Office of Advancement Operations.
  • Other projects and duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must demonstrate a passion for emerging media trends and technology.
  • Working knowledge of photography, videography, graphic design skills, video production and editing experience.
  • Keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to communication engagement.
  • The right candidate will be a creative, diplomatic, well-organized colleague who is able to work within a cross-functional team with demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, project management, and presentation skills.
  • Flexibility and responsiveness to deal with complex problems and strategic opportunities are imperative for success.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and knowledge and experience in traditional communication methods required.
  • Education & Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):

  • Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in customer service, alumni relations, marketing, advertising, public relations, journalism, or online marketing.
